Devin Bruens, the son of Del and Pam Bruens of Paxton, was chosen as the February Student of the Month at PBL High School. Devin was nominated by business teacher Leann McPike.
McPike wrote in her nomination of the senior student, “Devin is very passionate about education and higher learning. He is a student of Accounting II as an independent study. He rises above the course work expectation with a great attitude, carrying a high A. He has been placed in my 8th hour which is an Introduction to Business class. He concentrates and completes his work load for wasAccounting even during a distracting environment. I have witnessed him helping students in Introduction to Business with their questions even though he is an accounting student. He possesses a spirit of positivity and is eager to grow his intellect as an independent achiever. He is a true role model for other students.”
Outside of the classroom, Devin is a member of Concert Band, Jazz Band, Marching Band. Math Team, Scholastic Bowl, and National Honor Society. He has a part-time job at the Humble Hog. He also volunteers with Pheasants Forever, assisting with youth shoots and helping his dad cook for various events.
Devin’s plan for his future is to major in Financial Accounting at Illinois State University.
